Sun Protection
UPF 50+ Fabric
UPF stands for Ultraviolet Protection Factor, a rating that measures the level of UV protection provided by a fabric.
A garment with UPF 50+ offers excellent sun protection: it allows less than 2% of UV rays to pass through, blocking about 98% of the sun’s harmful radiation.
Unlike sunscreen (which uses the SPF rating), UPF applies to clothing and textiles, and is laboratory-tested to assess effectiveness against both UVA and UVB rays.

Why choose UPF 50+ fabric?
- High protection during sun exposure
- Ideal for outdoor activities such as sports, beach, or mountain trips
- Also recommended for sensitive skin and for children
Sun Exposure Warnings
Even though UPF 50+ fabrics provide excellent UV protection, it’s still important to follow a few precautions:
- Areas not covered by fabric (such as the face, hands, and feet) should be protected with broad-spectrum sunscreen.
- With wear, frequent washing, or when the fabric gets wet, its protective capacity can diminish. Even when wearing protective clothing.
- No fabric, not even UPF 50+, blocks 100% of UV rays. Excessive exposure can still damage the skin over time.
Combine UPF 50+ clothing with hats, sunglasses, shade, and sunscreen.
